KENYA LITERATURE BUREAU

KLB is home to the world's top authors, researchers and experts in book publishing and printing. They  provide high quality educational publications and printing services that are unmatched in the region.
The Bureau has
invested heavily in new technology so as to offer our customers high quality prints, strong author support programmes and a nurturing environment to work, learn and grow.

After being taken for a tour inside KLB and being shown how things are done from scratch to finished product i thought why not discuss with you the functions of KLB.The fololowing are the functions of KLB

1.To carry on the business of publishling ,printing and distributing literary,educational,cultural, and scientific books peridiocals,journals,magazines,digital and electronic materials and works of every description

2.To acquire copyrights in and rights and licences over literary and other works of description

3.To promote throughappropriate government agencies ,the productionoflow cost  adult literacy,educational,cultural, and scientific literature and materials and make them availble for distribution  within and outside Kenya

 4.to promote ,encourage  and assist authors within and outside Kenya,through financial incentives  or otherwise,to publish scholarly works;

5.To make availble for general leadership,through translation from foreign languages to local languages,works of interest and value to the public

6.To organize competitions in respect of literay contributions  suitable  for publication by the bureau and grant prices or rewards on such terms as it may deem fit;

7.To co-operate with such other bodies as are engaged in publishing,printing and distribution of books,periodicals,journals and magazines 

8.To publish,prin and selleducational materials at reasonable prices so as tomake  them availble to schools and other educatonlinstitutions 

9.To do   all such things as appear to be necessary,desirable,or expedient for the proper discharge of its functions under this Act
